Photographer travels the world to make portraits of red-haired people from different countries
Despite the fact that red-haired people are usually associated with Ireland or Scotland, the American photographer Brian Dowling decided to prove that this is just a stereotype. Dowling, who now lives in Berlin, photographed more than 130 red-haired girls from 20 different countries of the world for his project "Red-haired Beauty".
Red hair is the rarest hair color in the world caused by a gene mutation known as MC1R that affects about 1% of the world's population. In addition to the shade of hair, this violation in the genes can affect a person's tolerance to pain and sunlight, as well as the color of gray hair. Red hair with age becomes light or pure white, instead of the usual silver or gray gray.
Brian began this portrait project, the work on which took him three summer seasons to show the true beauty of red hair and break stereotypes. The pictures really turned out amazing.
