11 photos proving that the kingdom of sakura is the American city of Macon, not Japan

Do you also think that Japan is the best place to see delicious sakura blossoms? This is because you have never been to Macon, Georgia! This city bears the proud title of the world capital of sakura. In addition, the International Festival of Sakura Blossoms is held here and more than 350,000 cherry trees grow.

This is Macon, Georgia, located 85 miles from Atlanta.

From a distance it looks like any other town, but look at it closer and you will understand everything ...

The very first Yoshino cherry tree was discovered by William A. Fickling in 1949.

Only in 1952 he visited the District of Columbia, saw there the same trees along the alleys and found out that it was Yoshino.

Fickling took up the cultivation of cherry trees and shared them with the city of Macon.

Subsequently, more and more of these beautiful trees began to appear throughout the city.

Now more than 350,000 Yoshino trees grow here.

Every spring, the city turns into a pink venue for the International Sakura Blossom Festival with rides and theme events.

And even horse-drawn carriages.

This year the festival was held from March 24 to April 2.

At night, blooming sakura is even more charming.

The Fikling Family Fund donates thousands of sakura trees to locals annually. So their number here will only increase.
