Kim Jong-un attended the opening of a new terminal at the airport in Pyongyang

Kim Jong-un is the son of the previous North Korean ruler, Kim Jong Il, as well as the grandson of the founder of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, the eternal president of the country, Kim Il Sung. At the end of 2011, after the death of his father, he took leading state and party posts and is currently considered the youngest head of state in the whole world.

This summer, he and his wife Lee Sol Zhu attended a ceremony marking the opening of the new terminal of Sunan International Airport in Pyongyang. After two years of construction, the building is fully operational: it is planned that this terminal will be used for all international flights, and the old one for domestic flights. The North Korean government expects these measures to help attract more tourists. In addition, this was an important step in organizing a meeting of dignitaries, whose appearance is expected at the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the labor party in the country.
