"Novgorod space ship": the brutal beauty of the theater. Dostoevsky

The building of the Drama Theater. Dostoevsky rises on the banks of the Volkhov River like an abandoned alien ship. Just a kilometer from the legendary Novgorod Kremlin.

"Frick" among urban architecture, unloved and abandoned, it soars into the sky over the "soundless provincialism" of Veliky Novgorod. The building, which became a wonderful example of modernist architecture, was erected at sunset of the Soviet Union. These images symbolize the difficult history of the existence of an extraordinary building, its ongoing failures when trying to fit into the harmony of Novgorod and earn the love of citizens.
