A photographer who captures the spirit of Bhutan in the warm faces of its inhabitants

Photographer Andrew Studer is known for his incredible landscapes, which he takes while traveling around the world. But a trip to a small Himalayan country forced a man to change the usual concept of shooting. Inspired by the warmth and pride of the Bhutanese people, Studer turned his attention to portraiture.

Several visits to Bhutan over the past years resulted in a wonderful photo project called "Faces of Bhutan." A series of shots showcases the true spirit of this tiny, unique and magnificent state.

Bhutan is a country that borders India and has no access to the sea. In addition, it is a country that has always remained free from colonization. Therefore, people living here are very proud of their native culture. Their faces seem to be illuminated by some invisible force, self-confidence, calmness and kindness, which makes an indelible impression on everyone who was lucky enough to visit this beautiful state.
