Meat lovers will not be happy: the UN has developed a diet that will feed the world

In the modern world, the problem of food shortages is quite acute. Millions of people on our planet daily lack food, and this despite the fact that we are only about 7.6 billion people. But, according to scientists, very soon, already in 2050, we will be 10 billion, and for this reason, it’s worth revising our attitude to this problem.

UN experts have developed a concept according to which it is possible to solve the problem of hunger on the planet, even with an increase in its population to 10 billion people. And the solution is not to increase the area under crops of genetically modified plants, which give huge yields, or to produce food products created artificially. In order to solve the problem of hunger, it is necessary to reconsider the eating habits of the developed countries of the world, which are too wasteful in relation to the resources of our planet.

For example, in the United States there is a very high consumption of red meat per capita and many other products, while the percentage of obese people in this country is also one of the highest in the world. This situation is irrational both from the point of view of exploitation of natural resources and from the point of view of caring for the health of the population. Indeed, in order to get 1 kilogram of meat, mankind spends many times more resources and land area than for the production of the same amount of grain or chicken eggs. But if people living in developed countries changed their diet in the direction of increasing the number of fruits, vegetables and cereals, and meat, red and white, were consumed no more than 1 time per week, then a huge amount of food resources would be released, and public health has improved significantly.

The initiators of such a global diet understand that none of the inhabitants of developed countries will agree to change their eating habits just so that it could possibly save humanity on a global scale. Just for this reason, they propose to consolidate it at the international level, using the relevant regulatory documents. Of course, the very idea of proper nutrition in order to defeat hunger is very noble and correct from many points of view. Moreover, these changes will affect only a small fraction of the world's population, since most of the inhabitants of Asia, Africa and Latin America have long been fed as suggested by UN experts. The only question is whether the leaders of developed countries will agree to ratify such documents and how strictly they will be implemented.
