Abandoned church in the shape of a huge cackling chicken in Indonesia

In one corner of Indonesia, a huge chicken is visible, which rises above a wooded area. The giant figure has the body, tail and head of a bird with an open beak, from which as if some sound is about to be heard. Construction is quickly collapsing. Gereja Ayam, as locals call it, attracts hundreds of travelers from all over the world to Central Java.

Initially, the building was built as a house of worship. The author of the construction is the 67-year-old Daniel Alamsya, who began construction after receiving a holy message from God. Daniel intended to build a church that looked like a dove. However, locals call the building "Chicken Church".

In addition to the prayer building, the church was used as a rehabilitation center for drug-addicted children with disabilities. Alamsya had to close the center’s doors 15 years ago due to the enormous cost of construction work that was required.
