The road between Bosnia and Montenegro is one of the most beautiful borders

Sometimes traveling purely through the capitals of states - boredom is mortal, sometimes the border road between them causes more emotions than the cities themselves. Here the road from Montenegrin Podgorica to Bosnian Sarajevo is definitely more interesting, and it is even surprising that these places are not popular with tourists, and the authorities of both countries do not develop them.

The shortest road from Podgorica to Sarajevo passes along the picturesque mountain roads through the city of Niksic, the second largest city in Montenegro, and then to Pluzhine, where beauty begins.

A beautiful, clean and small town surrounded by mountains and a pond.

Where amazing views of the Piva Reservoir.

From here the road begins to go along the gorge along the river with a credit for the Russian name Piva. From that moment on, our entire team began to unanimously organize, as I did not expect such beauty.

On the one hand - the cleanest lake with a fantastic emerald color.

On the other - mountains. I noticed an interesting structure at this, but I did not understand its essence, maybe someone will tell you?

Sometimes they crossed bridges from one side of the gorge to the other.

Or the road was punched through a rock.

All this painfully resembled the Norwegian fjords.

One thing was frustrating - the narrow road and the almost complete absence of places for stops, from where good pictures could be taken. Almost all the photos had to be taken sometimes with a little slowdown.

To make campsites in such places, I myself would gladly spend a day or even more on the shore.

When we drove along the dam, it turned out that this lake was artificial.

A little further begins the canyon of the Tara River - the highest in Europe, its depth is more than a kilometer.

This chic area was always not too populated, we drove through only one more or less large settlement - Pluzhin. At one time, this city, when the canyon was flooded, almost completely moved up the cliffs.

And this narrow wooden bridge serves as the border between Montenegro and Bosnia. Driving on it over the canyon of the Tara River in a heavy car is a hassle. At the border, the difference between the Montenegrin and Bosnian border guards can be noted. Montenegrins are neat and elegant, Bosnians are wrinkled and unkempt.

A poster at the entrance said we entered the Serbian Republic. Where to??? We were supposed to be in Bosnia !? For a long time they considered a stamp in passports with the letters BiH and a map, well, yes, that's right, but what is this poster for? It was later read that the Serbian Republic was a self-proclaimed state and entered Bosnia in 1995, although it maintained its autonomous position.

After entering Bosnia, the road deteriorated sharply - pits along the way had already appeared and the average speed had decreased, so they arrived in Sarajevo in complete darkness.
